Tarator Sauce with Stuffed Falafels is a flavourful Middle Eastern–inspired dish that’s both comforting and indulgent. Crispy falafel rounds made from chickpeas, herbs, and warm spices hide a gooey cheese centre, adding a delicious surprise with every bite. Shallow-fried to golden perfection, they are paired with a creamy tarator sauce made from tahini, garlic, and lemon juice for a rich, tangy finish. Served hot and generously drizzled with the sauce, this dish works beautifully as a party appetiser, mezze platter addition, or satisfying vegetarian snack.
Ingredients
For the Falafels
-
1 Can Chickpeas
-
2 tbsp Jalapenos (sliced)
-
3-4 tbsp Parsley
-
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
-
1 tsp Cumin Powder
-
2 tbsp Chickpea Flour
-
1⁄2 tbsp Lemon Juice
-
10-12 pcs Cheese (cubed)
For the Tarator Sauce
-
4-5 Garlic Cloves (crushed)
-
1⁄2 tbsp Lemon Juice
-
1⁄2 tsp Salt
-
100g Tahini Sauce
Directions
In a blender, grind together the chickpeas, jalapenos, parsley, spice powders, chickpea flour and lemon juice, until the mixture is able to hold its shape when pressed together.
Shape into rounds, place a cube of cheese inside, roll again until the cheese is fully covered, and shallow fry until golden brown on all sides.
Pat dry with tissue, and set aside.
For the Tarator sauce, mix together the garlic, lemon juice, salt and Tahini paste, and whisk until well combined.
Drizzle the sauce over the Falafel rounds, and serve immediately.
