Walnut Chikki is a delicious and wholesome traditional treat made with crunchy roasted walnuts and rich jaggery. Prepared by slowly melting jaggery in ghee until it reaches the perfect snap stage, this mixture is then blended with chopped walnuts to create a nutty, caramel-like base. Once shaped and cooled, it forms crisp squares that offer the ideal balance of sweetness and crunch. Easy to prepare and perfect for festive gifting, snacking, or adding a nutritious touch to your sweet cravings, Walnut Chikki delivers natural energy, warmth, and flavour in every bite. A simple, delightful sweet made with just a few ingredients.
Ingredients
-
1 tbsp Ghee
-
240g Walnuts (lightly roasted, roughly chopped)
-
150g Jaggery
-
1 tbsp Water
Directions
In a kadai, heat the ghee on a low flame.
Add in the jaggery and water, and cook for 5-10 minutes. It should break with a snap, when dropped in water.
Once it reaches that stage, add in the chopped walnuts, and mix gently.
When the mixture comes together, remove onto a wooden chopping board, and shape gently with a spatula.
Roll out into a rectangular shape, and allow to cool for 3-5 minutes.
Cut into squares, and serve, or store in an air-tight container.
