Pista Kunafa Barfi is a delightful fusion dessert that blends the richness of traditional Indian barfi with the texture of Middle Eastern kunafa. Made with milk powder, condensed milk, and aromatic pistachio paste, this sweet treat has a soft, melt-in-the-mouth base layered with crunchy roasted sevaiyan. The addition of coconut milk powder adds a subtle creamy depth, while ghee enhances its rich flavour. Once set and cut into squares, Pista Kunafa Barfi offers a perfect balance of smooth and crisp textures, making it an elegant dessert for festive occasions, celebrations, or special gatherings.
Ingredients
-
480g Milk powder
-
200ml Condensed Milk
-
200g Pistachios
-
50g Coconut Milk Powder
-
120g Roasted Sevaiyan (roughly crushed)
-
3 tbsp Ghee
Directions
Blanch the Pistachios and make a paste, and set aside.
In a kadhai, melt the ghee, and add in the milk powder, condensed milk, pistachio paste, Coconut Milk Powder and mix well on a low flame.
Keep mixing it until it comes together as a soft, elastic dough. If the mixture doesn’t bind well, add a tablespoon of milk.
Keep stirring continuously, so that it doesn’t burn.
Divide the mixture into two parts, and layer one half of the mix into a greased dish.
Mix in more pistachio paste, into the other half of the Barfi mixture, along with half of the roasted sevaiyan.
Layer this mixture on top of the first layer in the dish, and top with the roasted sevaiyan.
Allow the mixture to set for 1-2 hours in the fridge.
Before serving, cut the Barfi into squares, and serve.
