This is my first experience with miso. So I don‘t really know what the original one tastes like. I had ordered the shiro miso and I didn‘t know what to expect out of it. But the flavor surprised me. It did feel weird initially - my taste buds weren‘t accustomed to the malty, cheesy and the salty flavors combined, of the miso soup (this is the best description I could give based on my experience), but later it really felt hearty and comforting. The flavor though is really strong (atleast for me). So a little goes long way. It has a distinct sweet yet an overpowering aroma, so the smell may end up hurting your nostrils! But that‘s just how generally miso is - not pleasent smelling - so I don‘t really mind it. I would next want to try the aka miso too. The cost is also pretty reasonable for the quantity being sold. So thank you Urban Platter for introducing Ikigai miso!
